Principal's Welcome

Dear Chavez Families,

Welcome back to another new school year! While I know there are many uncertainties and challenges that surround us, I sincerely hope this summer has provided some opportunities to rest, have fun, and enjoy some special moments with your family. Please know that safety is our #1 priority at Chavez, and we are dedicated to ensuring that Chavez is a safe place for all students, families, and staff members. As we embark on another school year of learning, growth, and play, I want to extend a warm Chavez welcome to both our returning families and to those who are joining us for the first time. Our school truly is a community, and we are thrilled to have you as the most important part of it.

This year promises to be full of opportunities for our students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Our incredibly dedicated and caring teachers and staff are working hard to get their classrooms and lessons ready to educate and engage our students. At Chavez, we all work hard to create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child can be successful and thrive. We align our approach to school climate with the PBIS framework to both create and evaluate our learning environment, and we implementing frameworks of socioemotional curriculum 

We are excited this year to continue our work with Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) and Caminos, which are high quality instructional materials for literacy. In addition, we are thrilled to be in alignment with WCCUSD’s adoption of Eureka^2, which is the new high quality curriculum for mathematics! With your partnership, we anticipate that our students will make significant academic progress this year. Let’s get our year off to a wonderful and learning-filled start together! 

As you may know, communication is key to a successful school year; please reach out to your child’s teacher and/or to our office staff if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas. We engage in this work to partner with you and support you and your child every step of the way! Thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of educating your child. We are excited to see the learning, the growth, the fun, and the accomplishments that this year will bring. Let’s have a great year together! We look forward to seeing you on our first day of school on August 19th, which is a minimum day- 1:23 dismissal for TK/Kinder, 1:30 dismissal for 1st-3rd grades, 1:50 dismissal for 4th-6th grades.

Estimadas familias de Chavez:

¡Bienvenidos a un nuevo año escolar! Si bien sé que nos rodean muchas incertidumbres y desafíos, espero sinceramente que este verano les haya brindado oportunidades para descansar, divertirse y disfrutar de momentos especiales en familia. Sepan que la seguridad es nuestra prioridad principal en Chavez y nos dedicamos a garantizar que Chavez sea un lugar seguro para todos los estudiantes, familias y personal. Al comenzar otro año escolar de aprendizaje, crecimiento y diversión, quiero darles una cálida bienvenida a Chavez tanto a las familias que regresan como a quienes se unen a nosotros por primera vez. Nuestra escuela es una verdadera comunidad y estamos encantados de que sean la parte más importante.

Este año promete estar lleno de oportunidades para que nuestros estudiantes crezcan académica, social y emocionalmente. Nuestros maestros y personal, increíblemente dedicados y atentos, están trabajando arduamente para preparar sus aulas y lecciones para educar y motivar a nuestros estudiantes. En Chavez, nos esforzamos por crear y mantener un entorno seguro, inclusivo y enriquecedor donde cada niño pueda tener éxito y prosperar. Alineamos nuestro enfoque del clima escolar con el marco PBIS para crear y evaluar nuestro entorno de aprendizaje, e implementamos marcos curriculares socioemocionales.

Nos alegra continuar este año trabajando con Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) y Caminos, materiales currículos de alta calidad para la lectoescritura. Además, nos complace colaborar con la adopción de Eureka^2 por parte del distrito, ¡el nuevo currículo de alta calidad para matemáticas! Gracias a su colaboración, anticipamos que nuestros estudiantes lograrán un progreso académico significativo este año. ¡Espero que comencemos este año de aprendizaje y maravilla juntos!

Como ya saben, la comunicación es clave para un año escolar exitoso; por favor, comuníquese con el maestro de su hijo o con el personal de nuestra oficina si tiene alguna pregunta, inquietud o idea. Nos involucramos en este trabajo para colaborar con ustedes y apoyarlos a ustedes y a su hijo en cada paso del camino. Gracias por confiarnos el privilegio de educar a su hijo/a. Nos emociona ver el aprendizaje, el crecimiento, la diversión y los logros que traerá este año. ¡Que tengamos un gran año juntos! Esperamos verlos en nuestro primer día de clases el 19 de agosto, que es un día mínimo: salida a la 1:23 p. m. para TK/Kínder, salida a la 1:30 p. m. para 1.º a 3.º grado, salida a la 1:50 p. m. para 4.º a 6.º grado.
